Tom Mazur presents: Baby I'm Amazed

This radio program hopefully will attract listeners. I like to tell stories and am inspired daily by being a participant in this life. I realize that all diction is fiction...and yet, it's in the stories we share we are able to weave our own truths. I love this life that is chock full of uncertainties, sadness and absurdities,,,but talking about them, makes me happy.
2/13/20 The poet picked up the phone
This morning I was thinking of a professor who taught a British Literature course at U.B. in the summer of 1970. I wondered if he was still alive so I googled his name and up popped some information about him. There was a telephone number and I wondered if I should try calling it. Not only did someone answer the phone, but it was the poet Philip Dow himself. What are the odds?

1/29/18 The Nectar of Dialogue
When Richard and I finished talking I felt good. I felt like I had just experienced a good volley of conversation. I liked that we both read Brian Doyle's essay. Look up Joyas Voladoras and make it your own. Write about it as author unknown.

12/9/19 The Thin Line
Richard and I had another public conversation. Unscripted. Unfortunately now I am thinking about some of the stuff I should have said and some of the stuff I shouldn't have. But, there's always the next time. And if there won't be a next time...I have no regrets.

11/15/19 some poetry talk
Paula Wachowiak stopped by tonight before our Podcast so we not only read a few Magdalena Zurawski's poems, we talked about poetry in general, and had Paula read one of hers. As usual, it was fun.

11/5/19 voting, breathing and communicating
Tonight Richard and I had an off line dialogue for 35 minutes before the show and then an hour long podcast. That's a lot of breath being tossed around. We covered a lot of ground and yet we talk for the simple joy of being friends. We don't jockey for positions for our breath is free to go wherever it wishes.

10/2/19 talk is precious
Tonight Richard and I talked a lot and had no plot, There was no conclusion to our conversation. Before we knew it, the buzzer went off and it was time to close the show. We will have to continue.More than likely not the same topic, but something with a slight variation of our experiences and many years of friendship. Like a rolling stone.

9/4/19 Your story means so much to me
I love doing this show with Richard because we have great stories to share. And one story leads to another. And with this medium, we can share with you stories and poems and laughs so that you may share with others if you wish.

6/11/19 The king needs a laugh
Richard and I tried a couple of new things tonight and we had to give up a thing or two. We posted a cartoon and gave up on our music format. It's us against technology and yet our conversation is most human and real.

5/15/19 Public Poetry
Weekly the Buffalo News publishes a poem in its Sunday edition. This weeks poem is from Lisa Wiley an English professor at Erie Community College. I read two of her poems and Richard and I discussed them along with other topics that her words inspired our conversation.

5/1/19 The Conversation
Richard and I sat down and had a chat. A good solid unrehearsed  communication. There were a few pauses here and there because we had no notion of a script. Our friendship spans 40 plus years. We never tire of delving and probing for some truth in our lives. This is what makes it fun.

4/3/19 Nothing is Real
Life is but a dream, a nebulous mirage. True but not true. These are only words playing. What's really real is how you feel in silence. Go to a desert and find out. With special guest: Karen Wickett Krantz.

3/20/19 What's so funny?
Did anybody make you laugh today? Laughter at times works better than tears. And sometimes they go good together. I'm glad we were given the capacity to laugh. I am sometimes accused of not being serious enough but that's not true. I believe that people should have some serious fun in their lives. My goal in life though is to do something that will make someone laugh and cry at the same time. hahaboohoo

3/6/19 Ash Wednesday
Lent is a good time of year to take a time out. All teams do that during a game. It's a time to regroup and do some soul work. It doesn't have to be painful. Start off simple and then make a firm resolve that you will become a better person and then make someone else happy in return.

7/22/18 old friends
Yesterday I stopped in to visit Richard. Today's radio show is a continuation of that visit. But we have included a new friend. Her name is Elizabeth Onusko and she has a poem in this month's current issue of the Sun Magazine. She also paints and is somewhat like a rolling stone maybe. Like most of us, young and old alike.

10/4/17 Absolutely Nothing
War Good God Y'all what is it good for? If we remain silent, would there be no more war? Probably not. So, how do we get along when we can't get along. Simple, by being civil and not continually thinking we have to win someone over. The common ground arrives when the daqgers are down.

9/6/17 Gladness
Gladness is momentary while goodness is not. Of course that's up for debate. But I believe that there is such a thing as innate goodness and even though evil exists I strongly believe that goodness overall will prevail. This makes me glad.

8/2/18 Time Out
We are fortunate because we can reflect. It's a gift. Our time out. A time to discern. Our journey into the desert. And yet, because we are human we need to be with other humans. We need to interact, barter, and be satisfied with the deals we struck. And then reflect on our good fortunes.

7/5/17 Coffee Break
It's not about the coffee as much as it is about the break in the action. Or a break from convention. Or, a break from our own bubble. That's it...take a break from ourselves. Take time out twice a day and find out something special about somebody other than yourself. Or your dog, or the street you walk on.

6/7/17 Stop in the name of love
We were given the gift of pause. How we put it to use is what makes us a loving and tender human being. There is no denying that there is evil in the world, but I believe that more good is available to us. We just have to take the time to discern what it is we wish to be in this realm we dwell in for the moment.

5/3/17 Free Advice
At the end of every day you should ask yourself, what made me laugh today. And if you think nothing at all was funny, then I think you haven't examined your day close enough. I suppose the same goes for sadness too.

3/29/17 you talk to me
Seriously, how else are we going to find out about each other. We need to communicate. We are social beings and even though some may be shy, some may be reclusive, some may be completely out of our minds, the only way we can find out about each other is through communication. Talk, sign, gesture ...sometimes a smile works best at first.
Above all, be human...give it a try.

2/2/17 Black and White in Color
Imagine if life was simply black and white. A pencil note telling you how to live your life. How you should live the golden rule. How  to always remember that there's blood on the end of the pencil. And blood is red and peace is not black and white. And the color of your soul has yet to be determined. And love is sad and deep.
